Hello and welcome to Metal Invader! This is Elpida and I’m stoked we got to do this interview, especially after our brief conversation at Thessaloniki’s Mammoth Fest last October! Is everyone alright? What are you up to these days?
Hey, actually everything is alright with us despite we had a terrible massshooting in our hometown Orebro, luckily we and our families are ok. But before that we’ve started to record a new album, first in many years… and THAT feels amazing and superfun. We plan to finish it in the next few months ????
If that’s ok with you I would like to cover a lot of things with this discussion. First of all, 2025 marks the band’s twenty years in the music scene. How does this make you feel? Are you satisfied with the band’s career so far? Are you content?
Well, actually 2005 we relased our first fullength album but we’ve been around since 2001 releasing two demos before the album ???? The funny thing, the first 10 years seems like forever and the past 10 years just went by so damn fast. I wonder how the next 10 years will feel like haha 😛 Our maingoal is always to play because we like it and thinks it’s so damn fun and I can proudly say that is so.
As one of the pioneers in the stoner rock genre, how do you feel Truckfighters has influenced the scene? Is the effect you have on people something that you actually realize?
Hopefully a lot of bands been influenced by our music but also our eager to always move forward. It’s actually hard to realize, sometimes when people approach us and tell us we’re their inspiration it feels a bit weird but we’re of course very honored and proud that we’ve done something that is cemented in the fuzz history
Your shows are driven by high speeds. How do you translate the energy of your live shows into your studio recordings? Do you have any particular recording rituals?
Well it’s difficult, we kind of realized a studiorecording will never be the same as a liveperformance, at least not with Truck since a lot of our liveshows is built on the energy both on stage but also the energy between us and the crowd, which is simply just impossible to catch on a media. So it is kind of a different experience to see us live and listen to the recordings. Hopefully both are equally good but in different ways.

What has changed and what has remained the same over the years for the band or the way the industry works? What are the most striking differences from when you made your first steps?
To be honest, not that much has changed for us in regards on how we do stuff, live performance, writing music. We try to be ourselves and not being influences but too many trends, maybe we’re getting old or are oldfashion, but we’ve tried to walk our own way/path pretty much since Gravity X, 2005. But one thing we noticed is that meanwhile we played and toured a lot, stoner/fuzzrock has become more popular amongst “normal” people, which is good for us. Obvisuly there has been a big change from pysical mediums to streaming with illegal downloads there for a while but we don’t think much on that. It’s kind of cool to be able to tour the whole world and 800ppl coming out in Buenos Aires but we haven’t sold any cd/lp there through official distribution. It’s better now when you get at least a little bit of royalties from streaming than the old school file sharing, he. Many fans want to own the music as well on vinyl or cd so I see the digital thing also as a way to spread the music you know ????
With the growing number of bands in the scene, how to you manage to balance between your roots while trying to keep things hype and fresh? Is there a certain creative process?
For us it’s easy cause we only do music we like and we don’t really care how other bands sounds or if a specific sound is more hyped at the moment. We’re too old to care haha
Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations that you’re particularly excited about? A new record maybe?
Yes as mentioned, we already recorded all the drums for the new album and we’re in progress with bass + guitar, soon vocals, so we aim on releasing a new album early 2026 as it looks right now. Wow, right? ????
What’s next for Truckfighters? Is there any particular ambition for the future?
Well we’re pretty happy with being at the level we are, playing the amount of shows we do. You have to pinch your arm almost everyday, that we’re so lucky we can work with something that is also our hobby. But if we can dream big it would be awesome to do a megafat arena supporttour, just to feel how it would be to play big arenas ????
You’ll be returning to Greece in a short period of time! Hope that means you’ve got a nice thing going with your fans here. Are you equally excited for your upcoming performance?
Yeah! Last year we plyed two shows in Greece for the first time in like 10 years. It was really appreciated and alot of peole came out so when this festival reached out we felt it was a good idea to return to Athens! Playing Greece is always good and it the stonerrock scene is big overall. Many good bands have emerged from Greece the past 10 years or so. Plus the weather is usually amazing so that’s a big plus 😛
Can you hint at any surprises or special moments that fans might experience during your festival set?
We usually don’t plan our shows that much but maybe a small snippet from a new song/riff appears, who knows?
