Joey Jordison dead at 46

Legendary former Slipknot drummer, among others, Joey Jordison, passed away at the age of 46 in his sleep according to an official statement released by the family.

Born on April 26, 1975, he was best known as the former drummer, co-songwriter and one of the founding members of the heavy metal band Slipknot as well as guitarist for Wednesday 13’s horror punk band Murderdolls. Jordison played in Slipknot since their formation in 1995 until his departure from the band in December 2013. He was the drummer and founder of Scar the Martyr, which formed in 2013 and disbanded in 2016.

The family’s official statement quotes: “We are heartbroken to share the news that Joey Jordison, prolific drummer, musician and artist passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 26th, 2021. He was 46. Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow. To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music. The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time. The family will hold a private funeral service and asks the media and public to respect their wishes.”
