Genre: Ambient Black Metal
Country: Austria
Label: Art of Propaganda Records
Year: 2018

Karg was founded a dozen of years earlier when J.J. (vocalist of Harakiri for the Sky) created a one-man project in the not so lazy summer of 2006. Despite its project nature the Kärg was actually a live band during 2010-2014 and ‘Dornenvögel’ (its 6th studio album) marks the project’s rebirth as a live band for a few special dates in 2018 and 2019. Two years have passed since their previous release “Weltenasche” and meanwhile Harakiri for the sky’s 4th studio album entitled ‘Arson’ was also released. Still J.J. seems to have an endless inspiration. Karg’s full of emotions atmospheric mixture of black metal melancholy and gothic sadness creates a raging result that breeds fiercely feelings. There’s a sense of a fresh air that the recruiting of a bunch of notable musicians as guests on the record brought, including members from Lunar Aurora, Downfall of Gaia, Ellende, Ancst, Amer and Instant Karma to participate with guest vocals. The use of 3 different languages: French, German, and English, is also an element that makes a differentiation and gives a variety to the record. Yes “Dornenvögel” is a sad album and introverted almost claustrophobic. It is 76 minutes long that makes it either rich for those that will love it and a bit boring for those that doesn’t drink their coffee without extra sugar. Karg’s “Dornenvögel” is already out via AOP Records.
