An album, in a very high percentage, is judged by the worth of its cover. I loved this specific one, from the moment it made its appearance a few months ago. Surely one of the best designs of Giannis Nakos and Remedy Art. As for the content of the album, the musical part that interests most of the fans, especially the fans of Karma Violens and all those who love groove/death metalcore, things are very impressive.

After their formation in 2002, they released the «Katara» EP in 2007 and four years later their first complete work was handed to the world. This four year time distance between albums has become sort of a habit for them, since that was again the time demanded for Skin Of Existence to be released. Karma Violens were among the bands who dared to play something completely different. This particular style has many fans in Greece, however there aren’t many bands that represent this sound.

Thumbs up to all those who deal with this genre, because we got talent as a country in the field of modern death/groove metalcore and one of the best and glaring evidence is Karma Violens.

The production sounds crystal-clear and was made by the band itself, the mixing was made by Daniel Castleman (As I Lay Dying, etc.) and mastered by Alan Duches (Motorhead, Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge, etc.).

In «Skin Of Existence» Violens Karma offers an excellent sample of modern groove/ death metalcore. All those who worship Gojira, Suicide Silence, Heaven Shall Burn, Meshuggah or recent Gorguts will definitely go mad with this beast-album. Honorable mention to Marios the vocalist, who spills his guts, covering a wide vocal range of death metal grunts, reaching even black metal (vocal) levels. One of the best extreme vocalists I’ve ever heard and surely one of the top in the scene. The performance of the rest of the band is shocking especially on guitars that destroy everything with heavy, unbearable and rapid riffs, composing the absolute chaos.

A band that refused to comply with the status quo, through the chaos they created here, in the end they succeed in overtaking and derail your poor soul. Everything you need to hear lie hidden in Skin Of Existence. What you need to do is to sit back and enjoy the twirling. I’m already stuck with the masterpiece «About My Creator» that brings in mind Cannibal Corpse and Gojira, with «Le Temps Du Suicide», «Floating In Sadness», «Si Vis Vitam Para Mortem» following very close. These songs are indicative of the album’s greatness, for me the whole album is perfect and I hear it 4-5 times every day.

Words certainly don’t portray, they only point at one direction.
