Kyle is the guitarist of the so called greatest band of the world Tenacious D (the Jack Black band with the Grammy) and actually he is a pretty good one. This time he decided to go solo and do his own thing in a more relaxed and free form, he decided to play simple rock ’n’ roll which is, nowadays, really difficult! There is so much music out there, which makes it really difficult to play something so simple and manage to stand out. So, the question is, do they stand out? Well, yes and no. There are songs that I will definitely listen again and again, and will put them in my summer playlist like Tremendous, Questionable, Gypsy Scroll and Manchild, but there are also songs that are just ok (which is not OK for the level of Kyle). What Kyle Gass Band plays is a mix of Dio, Jethro Tull (listen to Gypsy Scroll), Chris de Burgh, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Bad Company with bands like The Ides of March, Barclay James Harvest, and Creedence Clearwater Revival.
