Regardless the fact that it was Sunday and a somehow boring day when I reached An Club, I realized that there was enough crowd outside the venue. There was no delay in the show. There were a lot of people from the beginning, (I have to mention that it started a little bit after 20.00 which is considered early). I was happy to realize that during the whole show, there was approximately the same number of persons, something rare etc. etc. But let’s say something less common.

One of These Days started the show. I choose to begin from the conclusion. The marvelous thing is that many complicating music parts stand without any effort in the same songs. That made me understand clearly and exactly what they were playing. They didn’t have any bad moments and their setlist helped them to achieve this. The small technical sound problems only in the beginning didn’t help them to totally show us their skills, but this was my only complaint which was fixed during their show. The band has managed to have a good show appearance. Also they are responsible for all the details needed, as all the instruments have enough space and role. Their frontman gave me the impression that as if he had pressed one button he could sing all night without getting  tired. In addition to that the band had also real grooveness, something that seems important to me, and was helped by the musical parts of the guitars and the rhythm section that were coming to my ears like a magic.. Man, what riffs! So far I have talked more about their songs but I have to admit that I believe that One of these days is a band that should be heard live, as the audience seemed to enjoy them and because of the fact that the band has put a lot of effort on their work. As a result nobody will stay at their technical skills and finally, people could care for their artistic status, as if they had solved all the other details and problems.

Setlist One of these Days:

Reborn from Flames
Corruption
5th Element
Don’t trust anyone
Chaotic Generation
Until it bleeds
1000 Suns
Make them suffer
End of these days
Disconnect the humans
Unanswered
Smack your face
Nuclear Target
No time no life
Pinions of the Free

With a very small delay, (we didn’t have even the time to think about it), Incineration came. The truth is that they had a little stage embarrassment that didn’t help me to enjoy too much their show. I cannot even explain this embarrassment as the audience seemed to like them. They had good sound in their instruments, and they were playing well all together. Their vocals didn’t come to my ears so clearly, I needed something more, but this may have happened due to sound problems. Their songs were close to the general sound of the night. That gave to the audience enough happiness, as it seemed they knew why they were there and what they had as an aim to hear. Ok, it is a working- hard band, with a simplicity in the way they deal with their stage appearance and musical road. I think that the fans of that kind of music, will truly respect some parts of their work.

Setlist Incineration:

Fresh Corpse Fellatio
Atrocious Reek of Clitoral Decay
Relentless Engorgement of Viscera
Blasphemous Theologies
Bloodstained Incest
Defecating the Trinity
Disciples of the Garrotte
Hymn to the Divine Necrophagy
Baptised in Anal Discharge
Fear of Napalm (Terrorizer cover)

The next band were the Murder Made God. They were a little bit late, but it was ok that we had a break, as it was still early and we had enough time for the rest of the show. The audience was warm and the show that followed was totally satisfying. Murder made God have powerfulness and grooveness, they seemed to enjoy their show too. I liked so much their vocals. They were brutal but they followed exactly specific notes and tones that made me wonder if there would be any chance to hear a clear voice too, as I think that it would suit their groove music.  The way they write music was a little bit complicated or I could say that they write in a crazy way. However, the way they managed to be revealed in the show didn’t t leave room for complaints. Some of their songs that were special for me was Hollow Sculls and Depression. Below is their playlist:

Setlist Murder Made God:

A morbid institution
The irony of faith
Enslaved
Hollow skulls
Depression
The titan the fighter and the thief
Throne of derision
Victims
Involuntary servitude

Let’s go now to the Mortal Torment. I have to apologize because I didn’t focus on anything, I was confused by the intensity and the way the audience was mixed with the band on the stage. Once, I realized I was standing up watching flying plastic mattresses, bananas and dolls, thoughtless mosh pits (please take care and catch anyone). The situation was out of control. All people had a great time there. However, the fact is that Mortal Torment are playing good music. And the most important thing is that I believe that by using only their intensity, they could manage to make the audience suffer in that way, regardless their sound, their hugeness or their grooveness. On the other hand, I didn’t miss anything from their music songs but that was maybe because they made so much fuss that I couldn’t manage to concentrate on their music. And it was logical not to care about it because of that fuss. We heard phrases as “is that a base of a microphone, who do you think we are, Whitesnake?” “The next song talk about dead people and pitta gyros, do you have time for wall of death, for eating any sweets?” Nakos is a huge frontman, not only because he sings like a cesspit, but also because he has some cleverness, and he is trying to make us laugh. He is fucking crazy (without being poser, I could only call him monkey) because he knows what it is needed to be done. Moreover, he makes the things that most of the singers would hope to do: that is because he sings personally to any member of the spectators, dances like a primitive, abuses the fellow bandmates.  But I liked him the most for his humility as he stayed calm during his show with One of these days, and he shared the stage with them for one song. This humility was present during his own show as well. Also the fellow band stayed humble and simple. Ok, I know that you might think why I use words like humility and likeness for Mortal Torment but I think that this is their power and all the other things are coming from it. Highlight of the night was the mad action of the audience. People were sitting next to the plastic doll, and they were watching all together the show. The crowd was begging each other to be held as there wasn’t any correct stage diving, as they were doing anything they wanted, in a way that scared me a little.

Setlist Mortal Torment:

Eye Of The Tiger (intro)
Amphetamine Murder
Tender/Dismember
Decomposition in Vomit
Epileptic Defecation
Cleaver Redemption
Necropitogyron
Exhumed Tormentors
Masturbating The Deranged
The Elbow Throne
A Million Skulls To Bludgeon
Sculpting The Dead

The bananas stopped truly puffing, the crowd was running to catch the train or to continue discussing as there was a familiarity in the atmosphere from the beginning of the show. For those who didn’t stand on the mattresses, I have to say that they might have felt a little bit jealous at the end, but the distant observers might have had a better time… Maybe…
