Any action has a reaction and any bad decision you made, probably you have to face it even for once if not every day of the rest of your life. You just can’t name your band Luv Hunter in 1990, when extreme metal is growing bigger every minute, glam/poser is huge but in one step before disaster and grunge is waiting for its turn and you play U.S. power metal! You just can’t, unless you are suicidal, auto catastrophic or just misleading your fans… Luv Hunter was formed in 1985 in Las Vegas, Nevada Vegas by two friends, Walter Robbins and David Milligan and the band recorded their one and only studio album entitled “Luv Hunter” in 1990 which originally came out under Iron Workz / Azra Records. You could find a limited edition yellow vinyl via Iron Works back in the days. Now Lost Realm Records is releasing this obscure album that any fan of the genre will just love. You will find many similarities with early Queensryche, Fifth Angel, early Fates Warning, Glacier, Lethal, Oliver Magnum and definitely Crimson Glory, Banshee and Leatherwolf. As you can imagine there’s a plethora of influences and a variety of sound that are blended on ‘Luv Hunter’. So, what we actually have here? Highly emotional vocals, nice melodies and solid rhythm section, as also beautiful yet powerful percussion and some great guitar leads is all around this quite interesting release. As I said before don’t get fooled by the moniker ‘cause you just can’t miss this hidden gem of pure U.S. Metal and true power metal. I know I couldn’t resist on the brilliant riffs of ‘Dreamwave’ or the acoustic guitars on ‘Life on the Edge’ and ‘Broken Dream’. ‘Victory Battle’ is another strong composition while the ‘Luv Hunter (The Hunt)’ and ’Goin Nowhere’ are also highlights. Not a masterpiece but definitely a must buy. This more-than-deserved CD re-release will comprise the full self-titled album, plus unreleased tracks, in a total of 14 songs of true power metal. This release will include a DVD with three live performances: 1987 in Las Vegas, 1990 in Tokyo (a never-seen-before footage) and the 2013 reunion, when they were inducted in the Las Vegas 80s Rock Hall of Fame. The 20-page booklet will include the official band biography written by David Milligan, songs’ lyrics and rare photos.
