Mass Infection is a Greek band which, without big words or extravagant announcements, keeps on playing its death metal at its purest and finest form. A band that performs its music at great standards of quality.
“Shadows Became Flesh” is the fourth album of their career, four years after the amazing “For I am Genocide”. With a new drummer in their roster it was challenging to listen to their new stuff. However, their new album is as good as its predecessor. High speeds and endless brutality and the fans of the genre must be more than just glad. We are talking about one of the best brutal death metal albums of last years. Technical riffs that never being disturbing, combined with thundering drumming and of course the most suitable vocals, ‘Shadows Became Flesh” flows excellently. The good production also helps the listener to enjoy the music as it deserves to. Morbid Angel, Hour of Penance and Hate Eternal influences are welcome with pleasure but also well-filtered in a very personal sound. The self titled track, with a beautiful guitar lead at its end, is maybe the best song of the album. “Ominous Prevision” , with its Deathspell Omega-like opening riff and of course “To the Lords of Revulsion” should also be mentioned. Along with their music comes the very beautiful artwork of the newcomer artist Maximos Manolis, who is also responsible for Rotting Christ’s new albums artwork.
If you are fan of blast-beating death metal , for more reasons than the fact they are just well-played, then you have to buy the album immediately. Strictly for fans of the genre, although a really diamond for the few.
