Massacre is a band from 1984, and didn’t have a full length album since 1996. Well you can understand the anticipation for this release. And here starts the eternal question of metal genre fans and especially for the death metal ones. Do I want them to bring something new in their music or I want a “blast from the past”! Well people, title says it all! Actually it describes perfectly the fact that they had so many years to give us something, and that they returned with what they knew best, bringing hard on riffs and devastating blows and 45 minutes of old school death metal. I mean, when you have Terry Butler (ex-Death, ex-Six Feet Under, Obituary) on bass, Rick Rozz (ex-Death Mantas) on guitars, Mike Mazzonetto (Pain Principle) on drums and Edwin Webb (ex-Diabolic, ex-Eulogy) on vocals, you have some of the history of death metal sound and you expect from them just to put their experience into effect on this album. And that’s what they do. Smashing blast beats, nut cracker riff after riff, traditional american groovy parts, that we all loved to air guitar practice all these years and some guitar solos that so much are missed from now day’s bands. Ok, nothing new here, no death scene defining material here, but just put this album on your cd player and if after 45 minutes you don’t have a sore neck and a big smile on your mouth, probably is because you can need more!
