Megaforce Records creator and legendary producer Jon Zazula passed away at the age of 70 on the 1st of February. He was the owner of the New Jersey record store Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven, making him an essential figure on the metal scene of the area, whilst he released the Metallica debut “Kill Em All” in 1983, as well as the enormous “Ride the Lightning” through his own record label right after listening to the “No Life Till Leather” demo. During that time he was also a local booking agent and has worked with bands such as Venom, Raven, Anvil and Manowar, among others. On January 2021, Zazula’s wife and co-founder of Megaforce Records had also passed away.
