Memoriam as all Death Metal devotees already know is some kind of the natural continuation of Bolt Thrower. The band have already recorded their fourth studio album entitled “To The End”, that will be out in less than a month. A quite impressive number of albums for a band that established only in 2016. There are some changes since their last release though. First of all there’s a new drummer as Andy Whale had to take a break due to health problems and Spike T (a close friend of the guys) replaced him. Personally speaking I can’t find a reason why these guys left Nuclear Blast and signed with Reaper Entertainment Europe. But I guess all things happen for a reason and this change might turn for the band’s benefit. If you have heard their previous efforts -that actually combined a trilogy- you have a pretty good taste of what to expect in “To The End”. Musically speaking “To The End” follows the same motif with its predecessors. Once again the rhythm section is concrete solid, the groove is monstrous, and the riffs kill without mercy, while there’s a sick, dramatic and oppressive atmosphere. Of course album’s highlight is again Willett’s characteristic aggressive vocals. All that performance (truth be told by all band’s members) would have been like a spa bath in the desert if the songs were crap. But the album has tremendous songs that deserve your attention. The excellent songwriting and first-class recordings are rounded off by the production of Russ Russell (NAPALM DEATH, DIMMU BORGIR, AT THE GATES, AMORPHIS etc.) at Parlour Studios, that helps to give every detail on “To The End” its deserved space. Highlight moments: “Each Step (Closer To The Grave)”, “Onwards Into Battle”, “This War Is Won”, “As My Heart Grows Cold” and the title track.
