The Danish band Meridian has been active in the recording scene since 2013, and their self-titled album is their fifth full-length release. It’s no coincidence that they’ve named this album after the band itself, as it feels like a reintroduction to their fans. Their earlier works blended AOR, progressive elements, and heavy metal, creating a diverse sound.
With “Meridian,” they have embraced pure Heavy Metal, a shift clearly linked to a key change in the lineup — the departure of Lars Marker from vocals and the arrival of Soren Nico Adamsen, known for his work with the legendary Artillery. Adamsen’s gritty vocal style adds a sharper edge to the music, naturally pushing the compositions toward a more aggressive tone.
The album delivers well-crafted, tightly played Heavy Metal songs drenched in an authentic ’80s vibe. Influences from Iron Maiden, Saxon, Dio, and Accept are evident throughout. The record is packed with strong riffs, catchy choruses, and memorable songs that grab you from the very first listen.
In an era when Heavy Metal fans are searching for the next big thing, Meridian may not claim that title, but they certainly deserve a listen. This album offers a solid, heartfelt homage to everything that has made the genre great, performed with passion and skill.
