Michael Schenker Fest’s debut album entitled ‘Resurrection’ has everything a hard rocker wants. The guitars, the voices, the solos, the melodies, the songs. But you can’t expect anything less than this, from one of the most significant rock guitarists in the history of music. Schenker isn’t just the composer of U.F.O.’s ‘Doctor Doctor’ and ‘Rock Bottom’, as well as SCORPIONS classics such as ‘Lovedrive’, ‘Coast To Coast’ and ‘Holiday’, among others that he has participated. His characteristic guitar mesmerizes the world we are living in since the 70’s and his playing has influenced several generations of guitar players enormously. I don’t care why he can’t use the M.S.G. name as long as the album that I have in my stereo delivers the goods. M.S.G. band’s legacy has affect Hard Rock genre up to this day, something graspable if you consider that Schenker along with the three M.S.G. singers Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet and Robin McAuley, have released some extra ordinary studio albums such as ‘Assault Attack’ and ‘Built To Destroy’, as well as the McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP pearls ‘Perfect Timing’ and ‘Save Yourself’. Now these 3 singers meet again and with Doogie White (Michael Schenker’s TEMPLE OF ROCK) as well as with Steve Mann (guitars, keyboards), Ted McKenna (drums) and Chris Glen (bass) and also some guest appearances from Kirk Hammett, Wayne Findlay and Michael Voss-Schoen included, creating a rock ‘n roll celebration line-up ready to rock our world. M.S.G. is well known for being the home of great vocalists, most notably Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet (ex-RAINBOW etc.) and Robin McAuley, so there’s no surprise hearing all these great throats once again painting with colors Shchenker’s melodic assault. Definitely a worth exploring mature Hard Rock album that brings in minds a lot of Deep Purple’s latest releases. Highlights: album’s opening track ‘Heart And Soul’. Where METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett appears on, ‘Warrior’ and ‘The Last Supper’ – that required Barden, Bonnet, White and McAuley singing together blended with a variety of backing vocals combinations too, my personal favorite ‘Anchors Away’ and ‘Night Moods’.
