Midnatt – Skräckfylld Förtjusning

Genre: Heavy Metal
Country: Sweden
Label: Jawbreaker Records
Year: 2026

Sweden’s filthy heavy metal powerhouse MIDNATT storms back with their debut LP Skräckfylld Förtjusning (“Terrifying Delight”), claiming a throne among the new wave of Swedish steel. Following the blistering 2022 demo Metallisk Hetta, this ten-track beast—recorded in Värmland’s dark woods with analog grit—delivers bashing street-fight riffs, melancholic Eastern Bloc nods, death-saluting anthems, and pure HM fire. No frills, just rough, powerful metal as it was meant to be.

New axeman Edward Pancetti joins Aron Torstensson (vocals/bass), Eric Björklund (guitars), and Robin Bidgoli (drums), igniting a perfect storm of aggression and melody. Echoes of early Heavy Load, Gotham City, Axe Witch, and Jonah Quizz ripple through, but MIDNATT carves its own grimy path. Standouts like “Satán” and “Marken Brinner” pummel with primal fury, “D.Ö.D.E.N.” worships the reaper, and “Ljuva Midnatt” drips shadowy hooks. It’s raw, alive, and unyielding—not for posers.

Sweden’s frozen north has birthed another beast in Midnatt, a quartet unleashing their debut Skräckfylld Förtjusning (“Horror-Filled Delight”) like a midnight raid on unsuspecting eardrums. With Aron Torstensson snarling over bass, Robin Bidgoli’s thunderous drums, and twin guitar assault from Eric Björklung and Edward Pancetti, this LP channels the raw fury of early Judas Priest and Mercyful Fate, wrapped in icy Swedish hooks that demand headbanging obedience.

Kicking off with “Satán,” Midnatt waste no time: galloping riffs collide with Torstensson’s venomous vocals, painting a satanic ritual in molten steel. It’s pure adrenaline, setting the tone for an album that never lets up. “Marken Brinner” (“The Ground Burns”) follows, a mid-tempo crusher with soaring harmonies that evoke Accept’s fire—Björklung and Pancetti’s guitars weaving twin leads like daggers in the dark.

The pace ramps up on “Kom An” (“Come On”), a battle cry anthem begging for live chaos, before “D.Ö.D.E.N.” (“DEATH”) delivers the album’s brutal core. Acronymic fury meets chugging thrash undertones, Bidgoli’s double-kick barrage pushing it into modern savagery without losing that ’80s edge. “Sfinxen” shifts to enigmatic prog-metal vibes, Torstensson’s bass locking with intricate riffs for a riddle wrapped in razor wire.

Mid-album gem “Ljuva Midnatt” (“Sweet Midnight”) slows to a seductive waltz, blending melody with menace—think a haunted power ballad that builds to explosive solos. “Vigilanten” snaps back with street-justice aggression, gritty and unrelenting, while “Transylmani” channels vampire lore through galloping rhythms and eerie keys, a nod to King Diamond’s theatricality.

Closing duo “Skuggan” (“The Shadow”) and “För Evigt Märkt” (“Forever Marked”) seal the pact: shadowy atmospheres give way to an epic finale, Torstensson’s roars echoing eternal damnation amid harmonious guitar duels. Production shines crisp yet organic, letting every snare crack and riff bite through.
