Genre: Hard Rock/Stoner
Country: U.S.A.
Label:Napalm Records
Year: 2021

Albums / collections with covers are usually a love Vs love to hate situation, ending up either as a triumph – i.e. Metallica – or as a total disaster –i.e. Lemmy’s rockabilly covers. Monster Magnet, after the end of their European tour, in early 2020, and shortly before their Powertrip’s anniversary US tour, found themselves at rest due to lockdown, and chose instead of writing new material, to honor their heroes and influences by putting together songs that more or less defined themselves as musicians, and band’s sound and attitude. I personally love such records because they give me a better sense of my fav bands, kind of learning more about them this way. Here, Magnet, step out of their comfort zone, since they choose a bit more unknown to wide audience tracks. Well-hidden secrets of another space and time, real treasures, triggering you to check out the original version, discovering a brave new world. So it was really smart of the band to peak songs that they really love, but could work on them at the same time. In addition to musts, Hawkwind and Pentagram, you’ll also find pioneers Dust, Jerusalem, The Scientists ,The Cave Men, The Pretty Things, Table Scraps, etc., all of which are less or more diamonds of the late 60’s -early 70’s. Very good album overall that won’t remain on your shelf after ten days …
