If sense of time is not your strong card just notice that they have already passed 10 years since the release of ‘The Art of Partying’. And please feel old when you realize that this year marks the 14th anniversary of MW’s debut “Waste ‘Em All”. Tony Foresta and Ryan Waste are 2 unsung heroes of their time and these little gods will never take the credits that they deserve. Busy enough among their many side projects, so as the band’s other members (check also BAT, Volture, Cannabis Corpse, Brain Tentacles and of course Iron Reagan), they’ve found time to record a new Municipal Waste album, 5 years their last effort, 2012’s ‘The Fatal Feast’.’Slime and Punishment’ is a solid old school thrash metal record (having a lot of hardcore/crossover elements still dominating enough) based on tons of catchy riffs and pummeling drums. Their sound was already guitar driven and the addition of the second guitarist necessitated a choice that would make their sound bigger and not just over laden and stuffed. So judging from the final result, bringing Nick Poulos to the gang was an excellent choice. Without losing any of their aggressiveness the album sound more mature while there’s always this partying feeling with the shout-along choruses and the fast and furious solo guitars. Lyrically speaking there’s themes about comic violence, or stories based on low-budget independent movies that play on 1950s horror with elements of farce, some pissed-of angry ones against the state or authority (‘Slime And Punishment’, ‘Bourbon Discipline’ and ‘Parole Violators’) and sometimes lyrics being kinda fun, so as you can see clearly concepts that the band used before and fans love to. There’s not much more to add, if you can resist on while hearing any of the following: ‘Breathe Grease’, ‘Poison the Preacher’, ‘Amateur Sketch’, ‘Under the Waste Command’’ and ‘Death Proof’…(I can name 2 or 3 more actually…), probably Nuclear Assault, Anthrax, Suicidal Tendencies and D.R.I. mean nothing important to you and you should search on other tags your next buy. Bye, bye…
