Psycroptic is a technical death metal band formed in Hobart, Australia. This is the sixth full length album Psycroptic released, entitled “Psycroptic”. Just for the info, we should mention that all Psycroptic albums are self-produced! A band at this high level can do anything itself. Wow!
Let’s dig deeper into the album… The new album consists of 9 songs mostly influenced by the latest releases – Ob(Servant) , The Inherited Repression- . To me this album is “sequel” to Ob(Servant) period. With some acoustic intros in the beginning of the songs pure rage is served within this album. The Haley brothers, Dave on drums and Joe on the guitars, collaborate perfectly. The guitars in this album bring out a classic Psycroptic sound with the switching between the riffs. Dave’s drumming on the other hand is perfect for extreme drumming; it’s not just filling Psycroptic’s music, but has many great ideas in each song and a really killing double kick drum beats. The outcome is wild and makes you wanna listen to the whole album again and again. Cameron’s bass on the other hand works perfect since it fills perfectly the whole music. Someone could understand this by checking this band live… Jason’s vocals are full of hatred with a couple of clean vocals in some parts. There are some who say that Jason’s vocals don’t fit in Psycroptic music, but hell no! The last four releases including this one are “written” upon Jason’s voice lines!
I don’t want to say much about each and every song in this album since every song in this particular one is not just -in my opinion- “oh, we need one more song to complete the album”. Every song is just unique and brings out its own rage and feeling generally. Those up to tech death metal style should probably check out the new Psycroptic album. Pure headbanging is served in this one.
Psycroptic have their own unique style in death metal which can blow up your mind. SET FIRE TO THE SKIES!
