Even though Pulse R’s music style is nowhere near to what i usually listen to, for some weird reason i find them to be very fun. “In Chains” may be their debut album, but it’s not their first release, they released an E.P. in 2013, called “Until The End”. The kind of music you would listen in this album is heavily influenced by bands like Alice in Chains (what a surprise!), Audioslave, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden and Tool (when it comes to vocals). There are definetely parts of it that the music vibe is heavy metal-ish, plus production is great, really heavy and powerfull, which is a result of the amazing job Giannis Sakketos did on the album, at Diesi Studios. Apart from the great production, the singer Panos Vitzilaios, definately deserves to be mentioned, since his pronunciation and articulation are excellent. In case we’re looking for highlights on this album, we should take a look at the title track and also “Mindtrap”, these two songs would do the job. Behind the pretty artwork is Giannis “Remedy Art” Nakos (he has worked with “The Crown”, “Abyssus”, “Rapture”, “Bio-Cancer” and many more). Obviously, we’re not talking about a pure Heavy Metal release, but a well played, easy to listen to, Hard Rock. If you enjoy this genre you should give Pulse R a chance. A very enjoyable release!
