PRESS RELEASE
The legendary Mob 47, come to Athens for the first time and bring with them the stormy raw mangel punk attack, without any discount or compromise.
One of the most influential and historic bands of Swedish hardcore punk, and beyond, is coming to the 2023 Punk Against Capitalism Festival. Mob 47, founded in Stockholm in 1982 as “Censur”, until they were renamed a year later, have been one of the first, and fastest, d-beat acts of their era. Drawing their influences from the sound of Discharge, Crucifix, and the music scene of the time, they imbued it with the raw, thrash element that permeated the underground scene at the time, accelerating its evolution. The iconic Swedish band, thanks to the highly recognizable sound of its recordings, is one of the bands that contributed the most to the birth and shaping of crust punk, especially its rawest, direct and piercing version.
With a number of essential demos and Eps, such as the seven-inch classic “Kärnvapen Attack” and “Sjuk Värld”, as well as participations in compilations such as “International P.E.A.C.E.” (1984) and “Stockholm’s Mangel” (1986), Mob 47 managed to leave an indelible musical mark within a short period of time. Along with bands like Anti-Cimex, Crude SS, Asocial, etc., Mob 47 led a wave of bands that spawned the later Swedish crust scene to this day. But also led to the creation of many bands worldwide that searched answers through this raw sound to the impasses of the unprofitable reality.
Tune in to the Punk Against Capitalism event as more band announcements and concert information follow.
