RAZOR – STEAMROLLER ASSAULT – SPEEDRUSH – ENDLESS RECOVERY Live In Athens 08.11.2015

It was a Sunday night celebration to beating. First Endless Recovery started the gig the way a gig like this is ought to be started. As time goes by the band is improving and working on their personal sound and this shows out in the songs they played from their new album Revel In Demise, which will be released soon. Then it was Speedrush who learned on Friday that they had to take the place of Convixion (Who had to cancel) but they had no problem to come down and play their well-known speed thrash and warm up the crowd more as they were slowly gathering in the club. New material will be released shortly by them too. Steamroller Assault (with new material awaited too) kept on in a slower and groovier tempo to bang a lot of necks out there and no matter that their music is different from the rest of the bands, they fit perfectly as a starter for Razor. And then Razor… This is a band at their 50’s, with a man that literally needs special care and without a lot of hustle they stepped on every thrash band of every age that we’ve seen live for many many years. Kyttaro club lived moments of bruised glory, a new stagediving record and a lot of minor injuries from all the panic that was spread. For almost 100 minutes they took a tour through their discography with Malicious Intent and Custom Killing being absent in their entirety while they played twice Take This Torch! This happened at the ending of the setlist once and one in the encore. In fact Carlo said that it was the first time they do this in over 30 years but they wanted to please their fans. And they did to say the least. From the beginning with Nowhere Fast and Cross Me Fool, the Canadians covered the place with sonic violence, perfectly played with a very good sound. Hot Metal represented their first EP, Evil Invaders was honored with 7 songs while from the Executioner’s Song we heard 4 and 2 by Violent Restitution. From that point on 4-5 songs from the Reid years and a seminar of marshal arts by Razor who seemed untouched by the last 30 years when they were releasing the one masterpiece after the other. Everyone who was there didn’t believed what was happening, from the endless moshing to the bands performance that was over the top during their whole show. The band members showed that they are not some spoiled rock stars and they had great communication with the crowd, especially Carlo who while is one of the greatest riff masters ever in the history of thrash, stopped to talk to the people and listened those who were talking to him and after the gig he never said no for a photograph or a signature not him, not any of the rest of the band. Reid had to fill the biggest shoes in the history of extreme metal. After 25 years more or less that he holds the microphone of Razor he has proven to be the second best for this place and he also proved it on this night. We hope to see them soon and a big bravo to Greg and Eat Metal for bringing Razor to our parts… But guys…300 plus people on Razor? A very graphic monologue could follow here but it won’t change anything.Αlso a big bravo to everyone who travelled from far and wide to see this show, despite the expenses. Whoever didn’t came thinking that Razor without Sheepdog don’t worth, you just lost one of the best gigs that ever took place in our parts…
