Yet another top Swedish band this year at Rethymno Rocks! Open Air Festival #4! Searing heavy melancholists Evergrey led by the iconic Tom S. Englund make their return to Greece after 5 years, carrying a celebrated legacy of over 25 years of non-stop high quality sonic creativity. After the brilliant “The Atlantic”, “Escape of the Phoenix” and “A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament)”, Evergrey have “launched” themselves to a higher level of hauntingly beautiful artistic expression, demonstrating exemplary professionalism as a unit, both studio-wise and live on stages all over the world. Their dark, progressive, atmospheric and at times symphonic heavy sound, combined with Tom’s absolutely mesmerising and highly emotional vocal performance are the perfect ingredients for producing such an amazing range of songs that we will have the chance to witness live on stage at the Castle! Epic Heavy/Power Metal masters DOMINE for the first time in Crete! Since their demo era and the legendary “Champion Eternal” up till today, DOMINE have always had a strong, unique bond with the Greek fans. After their amazing recent gig at Into Battle Fest in Athens, the band returns to Greece for one show at the Venetian Fortress of Rethymno, an ideal setting for them to unveil their epic tales and perfect setlist which features tracks from their whole celebrated discography. Morby and the warriors are coming to RR4 to storm the Fortezza Castle and demonstrate how myths, legends and imagination are combined with brilliant musicianship in order to “forge” passionate and true epic Metal! AVE DOMINE!
It has been over 10 years since the band played Rethymno and it was about time for them to return, with a brand new and powerful line-up and an amazing new – fifth -album entitled “Bacchus ~Epiphanies Of The Crazy God”. AHERUSIA is a band that has always had strong bonds with the island of Crete. Always loyal to their Folk Metal/Post Black sound, they continue to create unique pagan, orgiastic soundscapes that are bound to enchant every single viewer. Always following musical paths and ways found in the Near East, motifs of Greek folk music and carrying a direct musical connection with Pagan Metal and it’s aesthetics, AHERUSIA finally return to Rethymno and will definitely be one of the highlights of this year’s festival. We are looking forward to welcoming them within the Castle walls and “dive” into their mystical, ecstatic, Bacchic rhythms!
