I’m the kind of guy that loves splits, 7”s and cover songs that most out there take as b’ sides bonus tracks or relics. And I definitely also like when the bands take the decision to release all of this material in one cd or vinyl. Revel In Flesh is a German act worshipping high-intensity Swedish style death metal. As you have already understood we are dealing with a collection of rare tracks from 7″ and vinyl bonus tracks. The material is rather new as it has been released between 2012 and 2017. Among the 11 tracks there are 3 cover songs of Death (‘Mutilation’), Headhunter D.C. (‘Deny the Light’) and Master (‘Pay to Die’). All of them well executed and close to the original with a personal hint however, something important of course. The sound is rough and the shredding guitars are blended with the dark atmospheric yet melodic leads. All that in an up tempo rhythm, certainly raw, full of distortion and truly dedicated to the roots of classic Death Metal, in the veins of Entombed, Dismember and Paganizer. The production has some ups and downs but that is something really normal because as I mentioned before the recordings have a 5 years duration/gap. As a conclusion is quiet impressive, interesting combination and mostly is actually a document of how Revel In Flesh has changed over the years and matured.
