Riotor, coming from Canada and formed back in 2007, after two demos released their debut ‘Beast Of Riotor’ in 2010. This year, and after five years of silence, time has come for their sophomore album, entitled ‘Rusted Throne’, through Infernö Records. It contains eleven songs clocking around 45 minutes.
The group delivers a rough version of thrash with some minor death metal elements thrown in. Compared to their debut, here we can find more speed/heavy references, especially in the bridges and choruses. The guys are old-school, from sound production, artwork to attitude, with tempos that stay in high levels almost always. Special reference goes to the lead guitars with catchy riffing and melodies that in times become almost epic. Bass guitar is always present, drumming is steady, solid without exaggerating and the vocal delivery is dirty with rough accent.
It is a good release, in general, but with a danger to become monotonous and tiring over multiple listening. Without being original, Riotor’s target is thrash fans exclusively. Highlights: ‘Rusted Throne’, ‘Destroy To Create’, ‘Nightmare Is My Life’.
