The 5-piece from Athens returns three years after the release of “Blank Language” LP, which established them as one of the finest European (maybe worldwide?) hardcore acts, clearly agitated, asking a lot of questions and aiming to the chase. One of the things I loved is the record’s duration. Ruined Families instantly manage to deliver in just 17 and a half minutes (!) without further a due whatever is needed. Clearly the band is stronger than ever and the hard work spent to the songwriting bears fruits empowered by the destroying force coming from the drums and the vocalist’s poetic chaos. Adding backing vocals to the mix is also a definitely great feature, for sure. Cruising between emotional post-punk and ferocious, rebellious blackened hardcore is a bumpy ride, but surely a trip that won’t be forgotten. The “Education” LP concludes as the ideal soundtrack of a social critique upon the contemporary “ego”, its friction with itself and its survival in the whole.
