An endearing tactic of the northern Greek Alone label after signing a band releases all the EPs or demos that gathered in the form of collection which is a nice introduction to the band for the listeners, plus it saves them from the additional purchase of 2 or 3 separate releases. This time the Scottish Runemaster formed in 2007 recommended by the Greek label with their EP titled “Wisdom & Darkness”. Essentially, the EP is a merger of two EPs released by the Scots in 2015, the first entitled “Futhark Dawning” was released in July 2015 and the second “Wisdom & Darkness” was released in December 2015. Musically they move in Heavy Doom paths with generous doses of epic elements that will captivate the more traditional fans. The production is very good and the instruments sound distinct and the guitars to have several great ideas especially in the solo parts (“North Sea Demon”). The speeds are mid tempo and although the six compositions are not full of originality, the album wins in general. Well, in anticipation of the full length –I hope soon – I’m putting a ….
