“Masterpiece” was the first word that popped to my mind when the performance was over… Metal and choir is a combination that always pulls through; seems logical since a classic choir boosts the metal sounds. But here, we’re talking about an art masterpiece. Satyr and Frost went beyond themselves, supplying us with a magical result in black arts, creating a splendid atmosphere that is accompanied by the National Choir of Norway, consistent of 55 people. Satyricon deliver a seminar in composition, presence, audio and music in the broadest sense of the word. Personally, listening to “Mother North” within the borders of Norway, sung along with the national orchestra, gave me goosebumps; created an emotion that got me and sent me to frosted lands swallowing the sun… The opening instrumental “Voice of Shadows” sets this mood from the first hit, where the second song “Now, Diabolical” Satyr is in perfect vocal form, the two guest guitarists and bass players give an incredible performance and the well – known drummer Frost stylish as always. The crowd that filled the Opera of Oslo makes us understand many things via their voices as well as all the feelings we lost since we weren’t there… Fourteen songs embrace the greatness of the evening and lift up Satyricon. In my personal opinion that’s one of the best DVDs ever released in metal. Those stuck into obsolete thoughts, don’t need to check it. There’s no space for them there and they surely will neither understand nor feel anything; the level is very high now! The concert took place at Den Norske Opera & Ballett of Oslo in 2013 and was released in 2015 by Napalm Records.
