Savaged – Rising

Genre: Heavy Metal
Country: Spain
Label: No Remorse Records
Year: 2025

Savaged came together in 2021 in Barcelona, Spain, focusing on classic heavy metal sounds. That same year, they released their promising debut single, “Knights of Metal.” After three years, they recorded their first full-length album, “Night Stealer,” in January 2024. Without delay, and just one year later, their sophomore release, “Rising,” was ready for the world. The album was recorded and mixed by Javie Felez at Moontower Studios and mastered by Jaime Gomes at Orgon Studios.

Fans who enjoy driving rhythms, powerful anthemic riffs, standout shredding solos, and soaring high-pitched vocals paired with pristine production will find much to admire here. Savaged draws heavily from the classic metal of the 1980s, inspired by bands such as Scorpions, Judas Priest, Tokyo Blade, Riot, Dokken, Lizzy Borden, and Icon. Their sound embraces a melodic, nostalgic tone that sits comfortably within the new wave of traditional heavy metal (NWOTHM) aesthetic. The album blends ultra-melodic songs with early euro power metal influences, particularly evident in tracks like “Across the Burning Fields” and “The Conqueror,” culminating in the dynamic title track “Rising,” which merges power and speed metal styles reminiscent of Helloween.

This record is energetic and entertaining, driven more by passion and feeling than sheer technical skill. While it leans on some of the familiar tropes of classic heavy metal, those elements only add to its appeal. Though I would like to hear the band embrace a bolder, more daring or even aggressive edge, they perform quite well overall. The vocals soar with high notes, supported by dueling guitars and vibrant instrumentation. Songs like “The Long Walk” and “The Conqueror” highlight the band’s ability to shift between straightforward, cutting metal and more epic, instrumental passages. The album captures a youthful, rebellious vibe that’s perfect for relentless headbanging sessions.

From a production standpoint, “Rising” boasts crystal-clear sound but occasionally ventures into overproduced territory, which might mellow some of the raw intensity. Still, it stands out above many releases in the NWOTHM scene and is well worth checking out, especially for listeners who enjoy melodic, traditional metal infused with glimpses of power metal. Overall, Savaged’s “Rising” achieves a solid balance between catchy hooks and intricate arrangements without feeling excessively ambitious, resulting in a genuinely enjoyable heavy metal album.

This release is definitely worth exploring for anyone who appreciates melodic classic metal with a fresh yet nostalgic Spanish flavor.
