Serpent Lord – Demo

Genre: Heavy Metal
Country: Greece
Label: –
Year: 2017

Serpent Lord is a Thessaloniki based band that moves to more dark paths than the usual-played heavy metal bands nowadays, occult-themed and with many influences. Consisting of George Savvidis (vocals, guitar), Konstantinos Sotirelis (bass), George Terzitanos (guitar) and as a session drummer for the recordings Billy Katsikas (Beyond The Existence), the band recently released (and more specifically at their live with Omen on May 13rd) their first demo called “Serpent Lord”.

The demo includes 2 songs, “Blood Offering” and “Sacrilegium”. At both songs the influences are quite clear, from the late In Solitude, who have given up real soon to a slightly heavier version of Ghost, while some technical thrash elements can be easily distinguished. Serpent Lord is a blend of all those earlier mentioned which is clearly seen at the second track, “Sacrilegium”, which is the highlight for me due to the amazing latin chant on the refrain which makes it slightly more dear to me than the previous one.

The band’s history contains just two live appearances on Thessaloniki, one with Innerwish and one with the legendary Omen respectively, as I mentioned before, despite the fact that they had been formed more than a year ago now. As a person attracted to bands that mix many different elements and genres I can easily say that whoever loves such combinations will love this band as well. However, many people can also easily say that because of the band’s yet early stage , they haven’t found their identity. In spite of that, whoever has watched them live can reassure that Serpent Lord have a bright future ahead if they continue working hard on it. Strictly for loyal devotees of “The World, The Flesh, The Devil” by In Solitude, “Infestissumam” by Ghost, Portrait and Mercyful Fate as well.
