When I saw Sin Starlett’s new album artwork cover my mind traveled to Joe Satriani and his famous Silver Surfer…Musically speaking Sin Barrett has nothing to do with the aforementioned artist. Sin Starlett is a Heavy Metal band from Switzerland…still these guys have N.W.O.B.H.M. inspired sound and are also heavily influenced by Judas Priest, Metal Church and small doses of Accept. Their ace on their sleeves is certainly their singer Elias Felber with the weird but charming voice and his excellent performance (something that can explain production’s higher vocals and lower instruments decision), but who cannot see how easily this band can write memorable choruses, excellent riffs and brilliant solos. So Sin Starlett that was founded in Lucerne in 2005 are no noobies and they know who they are and what they have to offer. I have to mention a couple of things about them though. In 2007 their drummer Danny King died and despite the shock they found the courage to continue. Their debut in 2008 Call to the Punisher was fine and its follower four years after Throat Attack was less melodic and followed a rough path of hard rocking N.W.O.B.H.M. inspired traditional Heavy Metal. In 2016 their third studio album “Digital Overload” was a step forward, in the same motif, but now it seems that they have perfected the formula as they enriched the guitars parts with more energy and twin guitars a la Judas Priest and a new fresh air that their new guitarist Jack Tytan brought. Please notice that the core of the band, Elias Felber (vocals) and Reno Meier (guitars) have wisely add two more members that somehow found the right chemistry and this is audible in their songs. Songs as “Rule Or Obey”, “Streetlight Domino”, “Iron Stamina” and “Straight & Ready” are perfect examples of how awesome this album is.  Sin Starlett’s fourth effort is a great underground release, a beautiful Heavy Metal underdog’s gem. “Solid Source of Steel” was released on February 22nd via Metalizer Records.
