Following their self-financed EP The Sign (2021) and the well-received by both fans and music press worldwide debut album Paralyzing Chains (2023) via High Roller Records, Germany’s Sintage return with their eagerly awaited new album, Unbound Triumph. The band now features second guitarist Chili, who brings fresh energy and dynamic dual-guitar harmonies to their sound.
While Paralyzing Chains was recorded in just a week, this time the Germans had the proper time to work so the band aimed to improve the production and songwriting craft for their new release.
The album runs about 36 minutes and showcases a mix of fast-paced tracks like “Blood Upon The Stage” and “Prisoned By The Dark,” alongside midtempo rockers such as “Beyond The Thunderdome,” demonstrating the band’s versatility. With the addition of guitarist Chris, twin guitar riffs have become more prominent, delivering hard-rocking and memorable melodies.
The production retains the serrated edge typical of metal but sounds clearer and more powerful than previous releases. Stylistically, Sintage draws on influences from Accept, Thin Lizzy, and the classic heavy metal and speed metal scenes of the 1980s, crafting compositions that are both familiar and engaging. Although the album does not break new ground, it effectively delivers timeless metal anthems with strong riffing, energetic drumming, and strong vocals.
Highlights include the crown jewel “Prisoned By The Dark,” marked by its galloping riffs, twin guitar harmonies, and raw 80s vibe, and “One With The Wind,” the emotionally charged, melodic centerpiece that shows the band’s more epic side. The production choices favor a raw and unapologetic sound that fits well with the album’s aggressive and intense atmosphere (according to Julez, “One With The Wind” encapsulates Sintage’s strengths perfectly: blistering old-school speed, intricate harmonized guitars, and a balanced structure that includes a quiet, atmospheric middle section).
Sintage’s Unbound Triumph is a must-hear for fans of classic metal sounds executed with modern energy and precision—an album that commands attention and delivers satisfying metal excitement from start to finish.
