First thought that came to my mind once I got the record playing, was “It cannot be that bad, I did something wrong.” Eventually, as I listened, I came to the conclusion that it’s even worse than I thought. They have now become a school band playing death metal, without the intention to obsolescence every kid that tries to write music, but they, after 13 albums and 20 years in the metal back of the SFU, this is simply unjust. Fortunately the record wasn’t sent to us by Metal Blade for review, so we don’t have to praise it or need to say good words; that’s what other big magazines do, right? I guess I shouldn’t have said that; anyway now I can’t take it back.
The compositions are far cheaper than any composition ever written by SFU, the track structures are built abruptly; I don’t think that the album took more than a week to compose. Chris’s voice of is the only think of some value here, but what can I do with that? It doesn’t save anything. The cover is one of the same, as the production of the whole record is. They give me the impression that they simply don’t care, have run out of ideas, but that’s all they know to do, and since the world supports them obviously because they’re easy on the ears and have very good songs on their earlier albums, Metal Blade has their backs as well, so why shouldn’t they continue? Honestly, I don’t have anything else to say, only that they themselves cause absolute disdain of their name. Once they grooved as few bands.
