The Lord Weird Slough Feg are back with a vengeance! 4 years after ‘’The animal spirits’’ release, Mike Scalzi is now leading a revolution, a resistance to all things digital. Last year’s ‘’Laser Enforcer’’ single 7’’ was a pretty good example of what the album would be like musically and lyrically. Since ‘Atavism’ the band continues in the same path, with more 70’s feeling in the songs, in contrast to the first 4 albums, that were epic to the bone molten metal. Personally, I liked more that epic feeling and I was a little disappointed with the change, up until now. ‘’Digital Resistance’’ delivers great songwriting with both the epicness of the first period and the more classic/many times doomy aspects of the second combined.

The album starts pretty intense, with a galloping riff and evolves into a mellow, kind of nostalgic chorus. The album’s same track continues in the same pace, only to give its place to ‘’Habeas corpsus’’, in my opinion one of the best songs the band has ever written, with incredible atmosphere and thrilling leads. Of course Thin Lizzy’s influence is obvious throughout the whole album especially in the solo of ‘’Magic hooligan’’. ‘’Ghastly appendage’’ has a 70’s groove to it and ‘’Laser enforcer’s’’ screaming guitars grab you by the nuts. ‘’Curriculum vitae’s’’ epic feeling makes it alongside ‘’Habeas corpsus’’ the best songs in the album. Finally ‘’Warrior’s dusk’’ provides a great ending to the record!

I believe we have a true gem here! Classic metal sound with powerful guitars, melodies and intelligent lyrics!

The chasm’s opened wide
The blind leading the blind
This generation’s doomed
Sucked back into the womb

One of the best albums of the year for sure!
