20 years ago in 1997, Stillborn from Poland was formed and 2 years later they recorded their first demo. Of course so many things have changed since that time but 5 full length later, Stillborn remain an excellent paradigm of belligerency. Band’s last effort was released before exactly 2 years. ‘Testimonio de Bautismo’ was a brutal as fuck, brilliant blackened death album, showing a band full of skills and confidence. And as most fans of the band are counting days before the new album comes out in this April, the band is offering a great gift for them. Along with their label Godz ov War Productions are publishing their first 2 demos in one cd. Raw, extreme, chaotic, violent and hostile are a few epithets that can describe the aggressive attitude that Stillborn’s sound has. No, we are not dealing with a meaningless brutal assault. The riffs, the power and the pummeling drums are here but all makes sense, even though the band’s members were just starting their journey in music industry. The production is not perfect but it definitely is decent, while brave enough the band left the original recordings without re-recording any part or song. If you want some band names that influenced Stillborn in the early beginning you can hear elements from AngelCorpse, Morbid Angel and Cryptosy. Speaking of influences I believe there’s a Swedish approaching on the guitars with a little hint from the cult Canadian act Blasphemy here and there. 17 songs packaged in one cd with great artwork, 12 page booklet with lyrics and rare photos from that era. Awesome.
