Sun Rain In Life is the new music group of the Gkiorda brothers (Pantelis on drums and Dimitris on vocals / rhythm guitars) which they formed 17 years ago, going under the name Teenage Angst. It becomes clear that we are not dealing with beginners; on the contrary we are talking about settled musicians with a specific vision. This is of course proven (apart from their age) by the lyrics they come up with, having highly interesting topics (subconscious / conscious, the percentage of which lies in the human mind and became the title of the record) and their quite meticulous approach. Musically they’re moving towards the (qualitative) 90’s rock / grunge with some moments touching the pop / punk, therefore making the album more accessible (and easy – listening) to audiences that are not even familiar with this idiom. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that in a highly diverse society, where mainstream bullcrap and gits on one side and the flourishing of the extreme sound on the other side dominate everything, Sun, Rain In Life resemble an oasis of pluralism. If the timelessness character of their music was combined with the appropriate timing, we would be talking about a great release. Unfortunately the album is 15-20 years late… I’m not saying that seems forgotten or obsolete, but this Smashing Pumpkins meets Nirvana style would fit perfectly into the most open-minded, alternative and experimental 90’s era, as opposed to the retro / old – school – lust that have emerged in the last years. It would be an ideal soundtrack for cloudy afternoons in impersonal cities… “80’s”, “Labyrinth” and “Searching the Liar” stand out.
