Tank – Valley of Tears

Genre: Hard Rock/AOR
Country: U.K./International
Label: Metal Mind
Year: 2015

I don’t know whether I should compose a review to publicize my point of view for this release as a fact and its quality levels or if I should just share my opinion on if this release is actually worth having. A single photograph of the old line up until 1983, compared to a photograph of the current lineup (with all respect) would be sufficient to prove my point… Chinese say a picture is worth a thousand words. This picture says it all with a single glimpse. What is presented here as TANK is not TANK at all. Yes, I get it. The final product is likeable and fitting for the genre with its good ideas, ZP Theart’s tolerable vocal performance and some well-written guitars, but that’s it. Tasty AOR radio – friendly compositions can be written by anyone, by a handful of bands, except TANK. The moral demise since 2007 – and the discography demise since 2010 – of one of the most beloved filthy rock ‘n’ roll bands is constant, because as it seems, this tasteless N.W.O.B.H.M. edition of TANK has both supporters and buyers.
