“Of Worms And Men” by Head Cleaner

I imagine that most of you know that the arts, apart from being a means of expression, are a way of channeling relief and a field of thought and reflection, hence the term entertainment is more suitable than the word “fun” to describe more accurately the state in which the arts lead the humans.

“Of Worms And Men” is the third record of the Thessalonikians Head Cleaner. I don’t know if it can manage to make some of you think under a different light thinking, something that requires reading the lyrics, or if the listeners will stay in the musical part and simply band their heads to the excellent and highly addictive Death / Grind the band is playing. I imagine, however, that in the back of their mind, the creators wanted to be causing both of those reactions, at least to some extent.

But to stay in the music part, those who like the style of Rotten Sound or Napalm Death, you know what to expect more or less from this record, which is moving to more Death / Grind paths than the 2 first albums of the band, (which are much more leaning toward Grindcore). Generally there is an improvement in the synthetic area (or it’s just me, personally liking more this Death metal approach more) with the riffs being more elaborate and generally more in numbers than ever. Additionally there’s a groovy rhythm widespread in the atmosphere.

* The “Of Worms And Men” begins with the following “Quite an experience to live in fear, isn’t it? That’s what is to be a slave”, a sample from the futuristic movie “Blade Runner”(1984) that puts you in the record’s mood straight away.
