The Temple – Forevermourn

Genre: Doom Metal
Country: Greece
Label: I HATE
Year: 2016

This is the inaugural litany of the Thessalonikean metal banners and all the seraphims and cherubims have come down to parade mournfully in front of the Temple in a depressing and slow pace. Father Alex, who leads the parade, mesmerizes the faithful flock with his godsend, holy and apostolic voice as he sings his own nightmarish gospels. He seems forever entranced into an inner endless sisyphean golgotha. The ancient philharmonic orchestra following the litany accompanies Father Alex with metal anthems referring to the psalm of Tales of Creation (Candlemass), and the psalms of Virgin Black. Occasionally, references to the relics of the Seasons of Wither are made, but who remembers them anyway. The smell of incense and charcoal smothers the fragrance of rose petals and funeral spices the black dressed myrrh-bearers threw to you as you accepted the blessing of the Temple in your ears. You cannot bear the soot. Tears now fill your eyes that escalate and eventually trigger a prolonged weeping and wailing as you realize that the resurrection of the dead may never happen. How many years have you been waiting in vain for a “manna from heaven” band? Turn now your attention to The Temple. In hoc signo vinces.
