Trial attracted my attention with their debut album, “The Primordial Temple”, back in 2011, and I have been waiting for their second strike ever since. “Vessel” picks up from where its predecessor ended. Personal sounding heavy metal with catchy melodies, beautiful vocals, heavy rhythm section, right-sounding production, but still something is missing… something to convince us that this is indeed a great album that will lead the band to a higher level. Maybe “The Primordial Temple” had the element of surprise that was tempting, which now is missing; maybe the band didn’t want to make significant changes, and instead followed the line of their successful debut; No one can really answer… The sure thing is that “Vessel” is a good album, but not amazing; definitely not better than their first one. You should check songs such as “A Ruined World”, “To New Ends”, and of course the self-titled track.
