‘Enlightenment by Bloodletting’ is the title of the 7’’ split Ep of Turbocharged with Ragehammer. Being a fan of Turbocharged, it draw my attention and through it I discovered another great band, Ragehammer.
‘Fuck Off’ side belongs to the Swedes, Turbocharged. Next to mainman Ronnie ‘Ripper’ Olson (known as the early Vomitory’s vocalist and ex-Gehennah bassist) is Freddie Fister on guitars and Old Nick behind the drum kit. ‘Bloodletting’ is a blasphemous track, which reeks of Swedish death/punk. The ‘left hand path’ –ish start of the song gives its turn to a punkish riff accompanied by Ripper’s growls. After the refrain, follow the same pattern for two more times and you’ll meet a weirdly calm, but sick solo. A catchy song in the typical Turbocharged way that has never been released before.
‘Die’ side belongs to Polish Ragehammer. The black/thrash outfit consists of Corpsebutcher (bass), Mortar (drums), Bestial Avenger (guitars) and Heretik Hellstorm (vocals). ‘PanzerFaustian Enlightenment’ is a fast paced, thrashing black metal hymn that could easily fit in their debut album ‘The Hammer Doctrine’. It is a vicious and violent song with a refrain that brings in mind early Impaled Nazarene.
The split’s layout is excellent (the cover artwork was crafted by Robert A. von Ritter) and comes with an insert lyric typewriter-like sheet. For the groups’ fans the split ‘Ep is an excellent addition to their collection, and for the new fans it is an excellent opportunity to get to know to two great underground groups.
