Sweden’s heavy metal quartet TYRANN returns with their third full-length album, “Tyrann Forever”, released May 29, 2026 via Dying Victims Productions and Electric Assault Records, and it’s arguably their strongest record yet. Aptly titled, the album sees the band running through their entire arsenal: thunder-and-lightning heavy metal, straight-between-the-eyes hard rock, moody & magical hints of AOR, and the galloping early Maiden-gone-punk energy of their earliest days.
The album embraces popular 70s/80s rock hook-craft even more readily than before, yet evolves into crowd-pleasing weirdness that feels personalized by idiosyncratic ventures. It’s catchy enough to grab you immediately, raw without being busted, and maintains their pure heavy metal stomp while embracing an inadvisable, strange brew. The speed metal track “Demonomania” prominently features black metal-style rasps and blasts alongside its punky, occult heavy metal sound. Shockingly, “Demonophobia” isn’t the only blackened moment; the largely repetitive, anthemic “Kom Armageddon” quickly morphs into something more dynamic. The songwriting’s so taut that despite the half-hour runtime, each track feels packed to the gills. The title track brings a cool synth-heavy element to the table, taking the song into soaring AOR and hard-rock territory. “Born For Hell” is a rousing and infectious opening anthem that perfectly sets the tone for the album’s punk-infused energy.Finally “Bathory II” is a brillinat spacey, synth-driven closer that serves as a hypnotic and compelling finale to the record.
“Tyrann Forever” may not escape the lingering sense that TYRANN are having a fun go of it, but their general idea evolves successfully. It’s a really wicked new effort that rips with wildness. For fans of Heavy Load, Diamond Head, and Axewitch, this is their best record yet.
