If i hadn’t seen Belarus as the country of origin, I would definitely say that these guys are Polish for sure!
Veld are raw, aggressive and technically very skilled. The guitar riffs are very nice, while the guitars “alternate” with the drums and on the other hand they follow them and vice versa. Never-ending double bass patterns and blast beats. The album has lots of lead parts as well, that are “magical”; they drift you away from the rawness of the album and they create a virtuoso-like abstract aesthetic that puts the band in a different category than saying they just play death metal with black metal influences, or if you prefer they make them stop using tags about their style and brake those trivial boundaries so they create something experimental and different. The vocalist doesn’t possess a particular vocal style and he doesn’t use his vocals abilities much; this is not bad though since he mixes up really well with the group. All instruments are clean and perfect in terms of performance. The bassist is also playing his ass off in some of the songs and taps a lot while the guitars play some lead patterns. The sound is perfect and i think that Sound Division Studio has helped a lot here (Vesania, Behemoth etc)
In this fourth release of the band you will hear lots of “Polish school” influences as we already said (Behemoth, Hate, Decapitated etc). I don’t know if this is good, i mean for their sound and style to be so close to some bands and to resemble them that much, but they also have their own touch of style and that makes them being different than just being clones. There is also a black metal touch in the album that makes it more atmospheric in some of the songs.
If you’re looking for raw, fast, rough and aggressive death metal with some prog and black metal elements which unfolds tons of brutality then buy this album without a second thought!
