Do you want your speakers to ooze riffraff and stab you multiply in the stomach? Is a curb chain your most valuable and necessary type of accessory, becoming your hand’s extension on difficult situations? Do you belong to the elite leather army, worshiping the Holy Trinity: speed metal – beers – chicks? If you have enough testosterone, hit play.
A group causing earthquakes with every step it makes, a group whose members have served in other local hazardous bands like Steamroller Assault, Chainsaw and Execute (among others), did us a favor and released (limited of course) a tape of their work. Recorded between November 2011 and January 2013, the long-awaited self-titled album by Vomit Bitch is now available for supersonic explosions and consumption of cubic liters of beer.
The “Vomit Bitch” album has the whole package, as we say. It’s a great Motorhead-ish record with lethal guitars that tear your throat with a tin and let you die at the sidewalk. While in many other new releases we are searching frantically for the bass guitars, in this case, it finds us, showing how you can dominate in your own game. This is evident especially in «Wrath of the Warlords of Hell”. The composition’s victory is indisputable. Regarding the drums, they are ideally played for such a record. They fill perfectly the sound, with a classic play and without being highly sophisticated. I don’t think the drummer needs to show complexity to convince us he knows what he’s doing. No perplex shenanigans are needed. Ultimately, the disc is possessed by these dirty, filthy vocals, urging you to “cut the crap, we’re the real deal”.
With lyrics so romantic and lyrical that excess Lord Byron’s works, with compositions and the wonderful atmosphere they create and having as an ally a nice and clean production that leaves room for all the instruments to make their mark, you conclude to the fact that we are now talking about one of the best speed releases of this year. The recording and mixing of “Vomit Bitch” was a work successfully handled by the Entasis Studios, while the whole production was taken care of by Vomit Bitch and Nikos Papakostas.
The only “bad” thing I have to point out is the small yet existent weakness in some solos. While the compositions at a general level are very strong, the solos seem to pull them back. Should the band work on this aspect, then we’ ll be talking about an album – revelation, when of course they decide to record new material (hopefully there won’t be a next Ice Age until the next release).
If you want world peace, flowers in your hair and bees flying all around, leave the hall. If not, then this record is ideal for you.
