I truly believe that this joke must be put to an end. The “joke” isn’t W.A.S.P. of course; I’m not saying they should stop existing, touring (they’re not doing well there, either) or recording new albums. All I’m saying is that W.A.S.P. should stop mocking us. Shamelessly. Same thing happens with the music journalists, who’ve grown used to ranking Blackie’s releases as top notch. All we listen to is the same record all over again since 2001. The only thing that changes is the track titles. Vocals, refrains, basslines, drums follow the same pattern over and over again, without an inch of change. In “The Neon God: Part 1 & 2” we thought everything was ok on the grounds that Blackie probably wanted to resuscitate “The Crimson Idol’s” greatness. Before that we tried to ignore the musical setbacks and loans, along with the lyrical upside downs in which Blackie was lingering between being a Yankee / a worldwide cop and being a religious Christian mercenary. “Unholy Terror” and “Dying for the World”, even if they were ruminations of past records, there was something in them you could hold on to. There were some tracks that stuck with you. Later on, “Dominator” and “Babylon” have some moments too for fuck’s sake (keeping simultaneously in mind that these tracks don’t instantly make the record a masterpiece). We chose these moments with clear conscience, although they kept reminding us that they borrowed elements over the duly from the past records of the band, they found a way to stick with us. Now the situation has become unbearable. The word “moderate” seems an unattainable ceiling. Logically, the younger readers who probably got the album and have already heard it will be wondering “Why are you bad – mouthing “Golgotha” since it’s good?” Incidentally, we were ashamed to characterize “K.F.D.” as a “good” record, even though it was actually amazing. So, by ranking “Golgotha” as a good record is shameful. “Can you tell us something about the album? We knew all that. Will you tell us anything new? “Why should I do that? Does Mr. Lawless (for at least 15 years now) offer us something new to actually talk about it? I’m taking things seriously! Extreme degradation…
