Label: Frontiers
Year: 2015

I won’t fall into the trap and consider this record a money – maker even if it’s another excuse to financially bleed the Whitesnake fanatics by the label Frontiers, after already releasing two live albums, the release of which I never understood. Let’s say that Mr. Coverdale decided to keep his band’s name a hot potato until the release of its next album and to keep us considering him as the mastermind for these releases, as it happens here. We won’t elaborate on the tracks, since these are the diamonds that have raised many generations and their compositions are insuperable. The performance is also on a good level, but here’s the point where objections rise up. Ok, we all agree that Coverdale’s performance is satisfactory though we cannot miss the constant overuse of that voice roughness. The production is crystal clear, although it’s overly polished and kept bringing “1987” in mind, which even though we like it both as a record and for its production, it’s obvious that it has nothing to do with Purple’s tracks. Because, even if we come to think in the terms of “we listen to Coverdale’s reception of these classic tracks”, we’ll all see that this is a paradox. This phrase answers to the 2015 edition, not the 1987 one. As a third negative point, the absence of double vocals which made the prototypes magical, with their chemistry and the reciprocation of the voices, excuse me, but without Glenn Hughes you’re not allowed to record them once again. With respect to the 15 diamonds of this hard rock sound and just for that…

2/6

*give me a good reason why this record reached number 2 in Finnish charts…
