Sunday 8th of June I head over to Mousiki Skini in Trikala for a performance of Larissa’s WILD KITTEN. I was promised an entertaining performance by friends and vocalist Eliz was already showing enthusiasm for the event through Facebook, teasing us with clips and pictures from what looked like a crazy show in Volos.
It was a bit sad to see so few people had showed up to check out the band. When WILD KITTEN climbed the stage maybe 25 people were there to hear them kick it off with a Europe cover “Rock The Night”. Rocking the night was exactly what the group did because what I saw was a band with great energy and experienced stage performance. The band didn’t show any signs of disappointment over the low turn-out, and performed with energy worthy of much bigger crowd. We were taken through most of the songs of their self-titled debut album from 2011 together with some great covers. During “Wild Kitten” there was a lot of purring and meowing going on stage, while memories of disco balls and wild nights in the 80s were brought up during “In The Heat Of The Night”.
Frontwoman Eliz aka Foxy shows herself as a true lioness on stage, only to be overshadowed sometimes by the hyperactive lead guitarist Nikki Love. The two show great synergy with the rest of the band as members often seek each other out to tease, seduce and basically rock out together. Drummer Roxx Ztar did most of the talking between songs but unfortunately this barbaric Belgian doesn’t speak enough Greek to pick up all the words. What I did hear was a great cover of “Kiss Me Deadly” by Lita Ford and the powerful song Born in Power, written for the Greek epic fantasy movie “The Dragonphoenix Chronicles: Indomitable”. We were treated with an intense last goodbye “F.U.C.K.” before WILD KITTEN called it a night after a one hour and half ‘purrrrfect’ rock show. Don’t make the same mistake as many Trikalians and go check out these kitties when they play near you!
Afterwards Eliz shared on Facebook:
