Wolf – Feeding the Machine

Published:

Genre: Heavy Metal

I consider Wolf (from Sweden) as one of the most talented bands in the classic Heavy Metal space of our time.

I have been following the band’s releases quite close and I can say that I was anxiously waiting for their new album.

They base their material exclusively on essential and into the point ideas; they attach great importance to interesting and essential riffing, which they use as the main ingredient in their songwriting. We should definitely give credit for all of the above to the great Simon Johansson (Memory Garden and 100 other bands, but basically … Memory Garden, that’s enough), who has played a key role in the sound of the band. We must not forget, of course, that Wolf have in their line-up, one of the most distinctive and recognizable voices in the Metal, the honorable Mr. Niklas “Viper” Stålvind. And if you think I’m exaggerating, let’s ask Mr. Leif Edling why he chose him as the throat in his Thy Doomsday Kingdom project.

If you ask me to suggest you a fresh and interesting album of today’s classic Heavy Metal, this will definitely be “Feeding The Machine”. Why; Because we simply have an album full of songs that stick in to your mind, we have a band that puts all its focus on its music and gives you an album that hear in its entirety from the beginning to the end without a single skip.

I think that simplicity that is diffusible in “Feeding The Machine” should be the new direction if we speak about Heavy Metal. Great songwriting, solid performance from a proper melodic voice that both lives it and is recognizable from the fans. And a decent band to support the material. Wolf have it all. Although I will emphasize once again to the most important thing for me: That they have excellent songs, from the beginning to the end of their new album. Definitely listen to it.
