Finntroll has been always something more important to Folk scene than a bunch of drunken trolls. Since their inception in 1997 the folk metal band from Helsinki has offered us many albums that worshipped the pagan, pure way of life disregarding dark religions that invaded and polluted Europe some centuries ago. But of course some would claim that it’s only a band smart enough to mix folk elements and heavy metal as many bands have done through all these years. But Finntroll’s mixture is quite impressive because it’s not easy to combine so suitable death metal vocals and polka while the extensive use of keyboards and accordion dominates their sound equally as the pummeling drums and the heavy riffs.

Beyond that the main features and special skill of Finntroll is the ability to compose really cool tunes. And there are 19 really cool tunes in this live album entitled “Natten Med De Levande Finntroll” (Night with the living Finntroll) that will be out in 13th of June 2014 that shows the finnish 6 years ago performing in Amsterdam’s prestigious Melkweg venue on September 20, 2008. The album has a very good production, all Finntroll’s members performing excellent and the only thing that would probably annoy you are the obvious and distracting ‘cuts’ between songs that doesn’t allow you to listen the entire album in its wholeness as a full concert. I think we can live with that… Nice release capturing a band full of energy and passion and a great opportunity to give an eye to the band’s back catalogue.
