Fuming Mouth is a death/crust metal band coming from Milford, Massachusetts and their first full length entitled “The Grand Descent” is the next album you will buy. They introduced their selves six years ago with a nice demo and after 3 years delivered a brutal EP entitled “Lotus” that unfortunately so few gave it a chance. Wisely they didn’t change their course and through multiple live performances and putting their asses down, they returned last year with the single “Sword and Scale” and in 2019 finally they recorded their debut that is already out via Triple-B Records. Their sound may not be something innovating, but it is still rich in ferocity and strength. The perfect mixture of Swedish old school death metal with the punk feeling and crust searing vocals blends with the hardcore elements. Something not so easy to do, but when Kurt Balou is responsible for the recording and mixing things turn a bit easier after all. The classic HM-2 pedal is present and the intense lyrics have this hardcore vibe as Whelan spits the words via his vitriolic throat. Some would find similarities with Dismember and early Entombed (the detail on their artwork cover and the hand that brings in mind the cover of “Cladestine” is a hidden indication too) especially in the buzzsaw guitars and the thick distorted bass lines and that is a damn truth indeed. “The Grand Descent” is an album with sick sound and old school death metal feeling with crust/hardcore vocals and a bunch of chaotic riffs that craft an aggressive with a creepy atmosphere result.
