Horisont’s new album comes after three years since their last effort ‘About Time’ and comes when whole humanity as so Metal community has bigger issues to deal with than an album full of hit singles that brings in mind the glorious days when radio stations air play -mostly in the States- were conquered by AOR, hard rock and even metal songs. I can hear you saying “I beg your pardon, in 2020 an album full of hit singles? Air play? Are we are dealing with the album of the year? Wow, let’s take a deep breath. Who cares if this will be in any top list by the end of 2020 when it will be in every decent collection next to timeless gems of our music till the end of Τime? ‘Sudden Death’ is made from ingredients you will find only in great albums. Excellent performance by all bands’ members and above all marvelous song fuckin’ writing. The vintage production gives an extra retro worshipping aesthetic that horizontally just love to maintain in their whole career up to now. Even though the songs probably lack of originality as you may recognize their influences as REO Speedwagon, Foreigner or Survivor are obvious, still you can’t ignore that they have camouflaged them with strong doses of their personal touch, plus Horisont are damn more extreme than any AOR band from the 80’s as their sound is flirting with pure rock ‘n roll 100%.’Sudden Death’ is a buy or die situation for sure. So…buy it now..?
