Protector were always a great band often flying under the radar while others taking all the credits, the fame, and the glory yet their fan base was loyal and everyone always knew their real value. But of course their reputation wasn’t enough to carry them into the new era. After their reformation in 2011 the band knew it must try hard in order not to loose its highly acclaimed status. This certain lineup after many changes proved to be long lasting and efficient when it comes to be in studio so now 4 albums -counting this year’s one- later Protector seems to living a second golden era.  Following the same pattern with fresh ideas and strong riffs they manage to record one of their finest moments. The album oozes 80’s – 90’s atmosphere but with no nostalgia or retro worshipping approaching.
“Excessive Outburst Of Depravity” is filthy, tight, nasty, gritty, having  brilliantly melodic parts. All songs have excellent build up and ridiculously fast riffs, while everything has its place on the album that probably should last a bit less -nor that there’s a waste of time here or something-, as personally speaking I prefer all albums last less than 45 minutes…
Lyrically speaking, ´Shackled By Total Control´ has socio-critical undertones whereas closer ´Morse Mania´ harks back to ´Caught in a Morse´ from Martin´s 2007 demo with Talion. The WWII-inspired ´Referat IV B 4´ and the sinister crawl of ´Open Skies And Endless Seas´ are classic history fare.
Overall, “Excessive Outburst of Depravity” is a true gem that will enthuse Protector’s fanatic audience.
